Climate
October through March is peak travel time in India. Average temperatures range in the high 80s to low 90s during the day, with evenings in the mid-high 60s.
Currency
India uses the Indian Rupee. At the time of this printing, one U.S. Dollar = 77.84 Indian Rupees. We suggest that you bring a lot of “small” bills (no writing or tears), exchanging just a small amount for Rupees, as most places we visit accept the U.S. dollar.
Languages
English is spoken in most major cities in India. The most widely spoken languages of India are Hindi (or more correctly, Hindustani, which includes Hindi and Urdu), Bengali, Konkani, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Rajasthani, Sindhi, Assamese (Asamiya), Maithili and Odia.

Cancellation policy
Unexpected events can cause you to cancel your vacation. Because we are committed to this charter, we must strictly adhere to our cancellation policy as outlined in our Olivia Terms & Conditions. This is a Selected Cruise trip which falls under our cancellation penalty schedule for Riverboats, Adventures, Selected Cruises, and Selected Resorts.
Transfer funds are nonrefundable and nontransferable from the point of sale forward.

Passport and Visa
A valid passport is required for entry into India and should be kept on your person while traveling or in the hotel safe deposit box, never in luggage that is being checked, or taken while walking around the cities we visit. Your passport must be valid 6 months after travel. All visitors to India are required to have a minimum of two blank pages in their passport book, for room to place their entry visa. If there is insufficient space in the passport, entry into the country will be denied.
U.S. citizens entering India need a multiple-entry visa. Visitors to India are required to have a valid passport and an Indian visa prior to arrival to India. Visas are available from the Indian Embassy or Indian Consulate. We encourage you to do this within 6 months of the trip, but no later than 2 months to avoid rush fees.

If you are not a U.S. citizen, please check with both your country’s consulate and the consulates of the countries we will be visiting to make sure have all documentation you need to go on this trip.

Travel and Arrival
Airports
You will need to fly into and out of New Delhi International Airport (DEL). We encourage all passengers to arrive a day early to avoid the stress of unexpected delays. An optional 1– and 2-night Pre-Adventure hotel package with a hotel transfer is available to add-on. Please visit our Vacation Stretcher page for more information.
Flight Arrival and Departure Times
If you are arriving on program dates, please plan to arrive anytime on October 15, 2022. Most flights from the U.S./Europe arrive in the evening. Your departing flight on October 23, 2022 must be after 10 pm. If participating in the Varanasi post-trip Vacation Stretcher, your departing flight on October 26 should be made from New Delhi (DEL) after 10 pm.
Luggage Allowances for Internal Domestic Flights within India
On your domestic flights within India, you are allowed only “one” piece of checked-in baggage with weight restrictions and a small carry-on. Always bring an extra bag which folds flat in your larger suitcase for shopping. You are bound to end up shopping more than you planned. Luggage and personal effects are at owners' risk throughout the tour and we advise you to obtain baggage insurance. For your flight to Delhi, please contact your air carrier for the latest baggage requirements and allowance.
Transfers and Meeting Up with Olivia
Your Micato staff will provide you a transfer from the Delhi Airport to the hotel. After you have gone through customs and collected your luggage, you will be transferred to the Oberoi Hotel. A dedicated Airport Team will coordinate and handle your arrival and your Micato porters will expedite your luggage at the airport. You will be transferred from the airport to the hotel, where you are pre-registered for check-in. Should you have any queries, your Micato Concierge staff will be at their desk in the lounge to answer all your questions.

Dates of travel available for the discount are October 7, 2022 to October 31, 2022. Airfare can be booked no earlier than 11 months before the trip. Not all fares are eligible for use with this discount code. Fare rules will determine eligibility.

International flights to/from Delhi, beverages not mentioned above, individual insurance, transfers for guests arriving prior to October 15 or departing after October 23, 2022, cost of obtaining necessary visa, and personal incidentals.
Electricity
The voltage in India is 230-240 volts AC, 50 cycles. The plugs are shaped differently than in America. You will need 2 or 3-prong round pin adapters. As outlets sometimes vary, if you plan to operate electric appliances, we suggest you travel with a set of international adapter plugs as well as a voltage converter. Most camera battery and computer chargers have the 110/240-V converters built in, but double check this. With the proper converters, you can easily re-charge your batteries at all of the accommodations on the trip.
Excursions
All of the excursions are included in the cost of your trip.
Gratuities
Gratuities, including your hotel staff (except for room service delivery), porter, meal servers, driver/guide, hosts, and Tour Director are included. If you received exceptional service from someone, you are welcome to give an additional gratuity.
Internet
Complimentary wifi is available at all of the hotels.
Smoking Policy
Please refrain from smoking in vehicles, while on the walking tours with the group and any enclosed places where it may affect others.
Solo Travelers
We average a few Solo travelers on these trips who mix and mingle with everyone. For a trip this small, there are no Solos Coordinators. You can start to meet other Solos and travelers online in the Olivia's Magical India Luxury Adventure Facebook Group Page.
Telephone
All of the hotels have telephones. In an emergency, you may be contacted through Micato offices in Delhi. We suggest you check with your carrier about cell phone service in India. Complete information about emergency contact information will be available in your final documents, which will be emailed to you 3-4 weeks in advance of the trip.

We are offering a 1- and 2-night Pre-Adventure hotel for those who come in a day or two early. These packages include an airport transfer with breakfast and assistance of the Olivia-Micato concierge desk. Please note, if you book a pre-hotel night on your own, and not through Olivia directly, the airport transfer and on-site concierge desk is not available until program start date.

This trip does require a moderate level of mobility, as you must be able to walk from 1-5 miles a day without assistance, climb uneven stairs and some uphill terrain to reach palaces and temples, and uneven and rocky terrain, step over high thresholds, and the ability to get in and out of vehicles that require big steps. Most Indian sites and monuments are rated at moderate difficulty or higher. There is usually little to no assistance for the disabled/handicapped traveler. Your guide can usually let you know at the start of the day what to expect in terms of the number of steps/stairs and amount of walking required.
Wheelchairs and scooters cannot be accommodated on this trip. If you do have limited mobility that requires assistance, you are required to travel with someone who can assist you, and you may not be able to fully participate in all the activities.
