About Our Destination
Activity Level
The entire trip does require a certain level of mobility—walking on uneven terrain, gentle hiking uphill, and getting in and out of skiffs (smaller boats) from the ship and on shore for “wet” landings. The ship also has steep stairwells to get to each deck and does not offer elevators. If you do have limited mobility that requires assistance, you are required to travel with someone who can assist you.
Being Gay in Seattle and the San Juan Islands

Dining
There is one restaurant on board. All meals are served as a sit-down meal. All meals and ingredients are local, fresh and inspired. It's a simple motto with delicious results. Our culinary program begins by building relationships with local farmers and vendors—with a focus on what’s fresh and sustainable. Field-to-table produce. The result? Innovative, nutritious, and tasty dishes that highlight the flavors of the region.
Included Onboard Meals
  • Early-riser breakfasts of fresh fruit and baked-on-board pastries
  • Full breakfasts with hot and cold options
  • Lunches featuring salads, sandwiches, homemade soups, and regionally influenced dishes
  • Varied hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour
  • Dinners with a choice of entrĂ©es including fresh, local seafood, meats, and vegetarian dishes
  • Made-from-scratch desserts like tiramisu and lavender panna cotta
  • Unless there’s a special barbecue or lunch on shore, most dinners are served over several courses. Attention is always paid to your personal preferences.
  • Your galley crew pays close attention to how food options meld with the activities and conditions of the day. At mealtimes, there are vegetarian, meat, and fish options to choose from. And if you can’t decide, try a sampling—just ask for half-and-half!
Dietary Restrictions
Please let us at least 90 days in advance if you have any dietary restrictions so we can prepare for your arrival. We are happy to accommodate:
  • Vegan and vegetarian
  • Celiac-friendly and gluten-free
  • Dairy- and lactose-free
  • Seafood allergies or intolerance
  • Nut allergies or intolerance
  • Other food allergies, intolerance, and preferences
Bars
  • Your bar setting is reminiscent of a neighborhood pub or an intimate wine bar. Local beer served on tap is a favorite.
  • Behind the bar, you’ll find premium and small batch, craft spirits. Cocktails are mixed with seasonal, local ingredients, house-made mixers and cordials, even some house-infused spirits (like a cucumber vodka or gin). The UnCruise Bloody Mary mix is popular, too. Specialty coffee and teas are always available. Wines tend to come from Washington and Oregon, but impressive international wines are also available. And with included tastings, most bartenders are tinkerers by nature. Inspiration can come from the unique experiences of the day, the wilderness explored, or stories from hearty explorers—Lewis & Clark, and you. With a specialty cocktail of the day, creativity is always shaking—or stirred. So enjoy! Fine wines, spirits, and microbrews served aboard are included in your fare.
Sustainable Dining
Wherever possible, ingredients are sourced locally for freshness and regional authenticity, as well as to support the communities where we travel and to protect and preserve our oceans. Committed to sustainability throughout all aspects of their company, UnCruise was the first cruise partner of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Program.
Electricity
The entire ship operates on US electrical current, 110-volts, 60 cycles.
Elevator
There are no elevators on the ship. Guests must be able to navigate very steep stairs.
Gratuities
Gratuities are included in the cost of your trip. Gratuities go to the naturalists, cabin stewards, bar staff, dining room staff, and other behind-the-scenes crew members.
Internet, Email, and Fax
Internet access IS NOT AVAILABLE on board. Prepare to “unplug” completely during the week. Some mobile phone companies have data signal in a few places near major cities on the coast, but it is not reliable. Please check with your carrier.
Laundry Services
Please note the ship does not have laundry facilities on board.
Medical Services
There is an emergency medical technician on board for any minor emergencies. There is no charge for this service. However, should you need further medical care, the ship will go to the closest port for assistance. For your own protection, we highly recommend you are covered with medical-evacuation insurance.
Money: On-Board Purchases
There is very little to charge or pay for on board since most everything is included. At the end of your trip, you may opt to pay for small purchases through cash or credit card. No cash advances are possible.
Phone
No telephones are available on board except for emergencies. Cell service depends on your carrier and locations. Some of the more remote locations do not have service.
Smoking policy
The ship is completely non-smoking except for an outdoor area of a specified area on board. Smoking is not permitted indoors, including cabins or while on land for hikes.
Solos
We average a few Solo travelers on these trips who mix and mingle with everyone. For a trip this small, there is not a Solo Coordinator. Before the trip, you can start to meet other solo travelers online by joining the Olivia 2022 San Juan Islands Adventure Cruise Facebook group.
After Your Trip
Disembarkation
