About Our Destination

The local currency is the US dollar. In Vancouver, it is the Canadian Dollar, but US currency is typically accepted in businesses which cater to tourists. Many merchants in Canada will not take American Express and Discover credit cards, however, VISA and Mastercard credit cards are widely accepted in Vancouver.
In April, the temperatures in San Diego and Santa Barbara range between the mid-50s to high-60s F. San Francisco is typically low-50s to mid-60s F, and in Seattle and Vancouver temperatures typically range from the mid-40s to the mid-50s F at this time of year.

Travel documentation and identification
You will need a passport that is valid for six months past the date of the trip. If you are not a U.S. citizen, please check with both your country’s consulate and the consulates of the countries we will be visiting to make sure that you do not need an entry visa or other additional documentation.

Cancellation Policy
Unexpected events can cause you to cancel your vacation. Because we are committed to this charter, we must strictly adhere to our cancellation policy as outlined in our Olivia Terms & Conditions.

Travel insurance
Olivia recommends that you purchase a travel protection plan to protect yourself and your trip investment. Now more than ever it’s important to think about the unexpected. We recommend you purchase the travel protection within 15 days of your initial invoice date to receive the most comprehensive coverage, but it is never too late. Consider travel protection for Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption, Emergency Medical and Emergency Evacuation, Trip Delay, Baggage Delay and more.

Travel and arrival

Presenting Gloria Steinem on Embarkation Day
There will be two events featuring Ms. Steinem in the intimate Mainstage Theater onboard your cruise ship on Thursday, April 23, while we are docked in San Diego. Event times will be assigned based on your dining seating time; we’ll send your travel documents with dining time assignment to you via e-mail approximately 30 days before your trip. Please plan ahead to arrive to the port terminal in San Diego to check-in and embark the ship in time for your showtime:

Embarkation and Check-in
Check-in will begin at 10:30 am and will be available until 3:30 pm, with embarkation beginning at 11:30 am. All-aboard is 4 pm.
Where to fly into/out of
You will fly into San Diego International Airport (SAN). The airport is approximately 10 minutes (2.5 miles) from the cruise ship terminal. We encourage all guests to arrive a day early to avoid the stress of unexpected delays.

You will fly out of Vancouver International Airport (YVR), approximately 30 minutes from the cruise ship terminal, Canada Place (999 Canada Place Vancouver, BC V6C 3E1, Canada), located in the heart of downtown Vancouver.
Suggested arrival/departure times
Guests arriving in San Diego on the day of sailing (April 23, 2020), should arrive by 12 pm. The airport is approximately 10 minutes (2.5 miles) from the cruise ship terminal. We encourage all guests to arrive a day early to avoid the stress of unexpected delays. When planning your air travel dates, please note that Olivia is offering a pre-cruise host hotel in San Diego. Olivia guests may book up to 4 days in advance of the cruise at the group rate, beginning Sunday, April 19 through Wednesday night, April 22, 2020.
Return flights from Vancouver, Canada on the day of disembarkation (April 29, 2020) should be booked at 12 pm or later.

Luggage allowances
While there is no luggage limit on the cruise itself, airlines often restrict (or charge) for excess baggage. Because each airline is different, and the regulations change over time, please check with your airline for baggage allowances.
Getting to the ship
You can take a taxi, Uber or Lyft from the San Diego airport to the cruise ship terminal. The ride will take approximately 10 - 15 minutes depending on traffic.

You will be assigned a dining time when you book your reservation which will either be First Seating or Second Seating dinner. Restaurant hours will be listed in your daily program.
Solos Seating
We will have a special Olivia Solos dining area for those traveling alone.

    Dining Room features five-course menus offering classic preparations, regionally inspired cuisine and vegetarian options.

    Pinnacle Grill offers delicious Sterling Silver Beef and fresh seafood options (nominal cover charge).

    Canaletto Restaurant serves dinner and features authentic Italian cuisine (nominal cover charge).

    Lido Market is a full-service buffet featuring cuisine from around the world.

    Dive-In Grill offers grilled meat, chicken and portabella burgers on brioche, gourmet hot dogs, crispy French fries and a taco bar with all the fixings.

24-hour Room Service

Cabins are equipped with one standard U.S. 110 and European 220 volt outlet.
Excursions may be booked approximately 30 days in advance. Your booking number and detailed instructions on how to book shore excursions will be emailed to you.
Gratuities are included in the cost of the cruise. Gratuities are provided for your cabin steward, dining room steward, bus person, maître d’ and other behind-the-scenes crew members.
Internet / e-mail / fax
There is an Internet center on board; minute plans are available. Pricing will be posted on board. Guests may also bring their own laptops and purchase a wireless plan.
Laundry and dry cleaning
Laundry, pressing and dry cleaning services are available. Pricing is available on board.
Medical services
There is an onboard infirmary. Medical services entail an additional fee.
Money: Paying for things on board
On board, the currency is $USD. All purchases made on the ship will be charged to your onboard account, which you create when you first check in. Please check with the front office on board for further details.
Each cabin has a phone which you may use to call cabin-to-cabin, and to the various onboard facilities. There is an additional fee to use this phone to call outside of the ship; cost is available on board.
Smoking policy
Smoking is not permitted in any of the staterooms, verandahs or public spaces, including all restaurants and corridors. Smoking is permitted on the pool deck in the designated smoking area only (Starboard (right) side, forward).
Solo travelers
Traveling solo? Be sure to attend the Solos Welcome on the first day. Here you will meet your Olivia Solos Coordinators who will share your solos program for the week. We plan dozens of activities for our solo travelers, including special designated solos excursions in each port of call. In addition, we organize a special solos dining area for all meals and reserve a section for the nightly shows.
Spa services
Enjoy the luxurious Greenhouse Spa complete with massage, facials and a myriad of other spa treatments. Massages and other services are available for an additional fee.
After Your Trip
Transfers to the airport
For those going directly to the Vancouver Airport, you can take a taxi from the port to the airport for approximately $40 - $45 Canadian Dollars, including tip. If traffic is heavy, this fare could be higher. Transfers will be available to book via the Shore Excursion office onboard. Taxis can be scarce after a cruise, so we recommend purchasing a transfer on board.
