The Mexican Peso is the official currency; however, $USD is accepted in all ports of calls.
Languages
Spanish is the main language, but English is spoken widely.

Mexico’s beach cities are very LGBTQ-friendly. In fact, three states have legalized same-sex civil unions!
Climate
The average highs during late February/early March are 75°–85°F and the average lows are 62°–72°F. Make sure to bring a windbreaker, as it can get very windy on the ship.

NOTE: Itinerary is subject to change based on whale/dolphin sightings, island availability and weather.
Activity Level
These trips do require a certain level of mobility, including steep stairwells on the ship, walking on rocky or uneven terrain, gentle hiking uphill and getting in and out of zodiacs from the ship and on shore. There are no elevators on the ship. If you do have limited mobility that requires assistance, you are required to travel with someone who can assist you.

Before Your Trip

  • Group bus transfer from Barceló Grand Faro Los Cabos to the ship (between 3:30 and 4 pm) on February 16. Approximately 2½–3 hour drive.
  • Group transfer from ship in La Paz to Los Cabos Airport or host hotel on February 23
  • Meals as indicated on itinerary
  • All beverages, including premium brand drinks, wines, coffee, tea & soft drinks
  • All land, snorkeling, zodiac, and kayaking excursions

  • Internet — There is NO INTERNET available on board the ship, not even to purchase. Prepare to UN-PLUG for the week!
NDA charges are not included in the price of the trip, but have already been added to your reservation as reflected on your invoice.
Travel documentation and identification
Passport
You will need a passport that is valid for six months past the date of the trip. If you are not a U.S. citizen, please check with both your country’s consulate and the consulates of the countries we will be visiting to make sure that you do not need an entry visa or other additional documentation.

Vaccinations
Please check with your local Public Health Department or personal physician regarding immunization requirements for all countries on your itinerary. Unexpected events can cause you to cancel your vacation. Because we are committed to this charter, we must strictly adhere to our cancellation policy as outlined in our Olivia Terms & Conditions.

Travel and arrival

Air travel
Where to fly into/out of
You will need to fly into and out of Los Cabos (SJD).
Suggested arrival/departure times
Arrivals:
For all flights arriving into Los Cabos (SJD) on February 16, please arrive no later than 2:30 pm. You will be transferred from the airport to our host hotel to rest before our group transfer departs for La Paz.
Departures:
For all flights departing out of Los Cabos (SJD) on February 23, please make your flight for after 1 pm. You will be transferred directly to the Los Cabos airport after breakfast. An option to be dropped off at our host hotel will be available for those who either book late flights after 5 pm, or are overnighting in Los Cabos. Transfers to the airport for these guests will be on your own.

Luggage allowances
While there is no luggage limit on the cruise itself, airlines often restrict (or charge) for excess baggage. Because each airline is different, and the regulations change over time, please check with your airline for baggage allowances.
Transfers and meeting up with Olivia
Getting to your ship
You will be greeted at the Los Cabos airport and transferred to our host hotel. At approximately 4 pm, you will be transferred from the host hotel to the ship in La Paz. This is approximately a 2½–3 hour drive.

During your trip

Dining
Open Seating Policy
The entire dining area is open seating for all meals. Dining room hours will be posted in the daily program.
Restaurants
There is one restaurant on board. Some of the breakfasts and lunches are served “buffet or family-style”; others are served like dinner, as a sit-down served meal. You’ll have a choice of 2-3 different entrees for lunch and dinner (usually meat, fish, or vegetarian). Most all dietary needs can be accommodated with advanced notice, including vegan.

If you have any medical, mobility needs, or specific dietary requirements that you have not already advised your travel consultant about, please visit the travel preferences page to update your personal needs information. Please advise us of this information as soon as possible, but no less than 180 days prior to the trip.
Electricity
The entire ship operates on US electrical current, 110 volts, 60 cycles.
Elevator
There are no elevators on the ship. Guests must be able to navigate very steep stairwells.
Gratuities
Gratuities are included in your NDA fees. Gratuities are provided for the naturalists, your cabin steward, dining room staff and other behind-the-scenes crew members. Should you receive exceptional service and want to tip more, this is up to you.
Phone
No telephones are available on board except for emergencies. There are a few stops in local towns where you can make calls, if needed. Cell service depends on your carrier and locations. Some of the more remote locations do not have service.
Internet / e-mail / fax
Internet access IS NOT AVAILABLE on board. Prepare to “unplug” completely during the week. Some phone companies can access data in a few places near major cities on the coast, but it is not reliable. Please check with your carrier.
Laundry services
Please note the ship does not have laundry facilities on board.
Medical services
There is an EMT on board for any minor emergencies. Should you need further medical care, the ship will go to the closest port for assistance. For your own protection, we highly recommend you are covered with medical-evacuation insurance.
Spa services
Standard spa treatments such as massage are available. Information on pricing and amenities are on board.
Money: Paying for things on board
There is very little to charge or pay for on board since most everything is included. At the end of your trip, you may opt to pay for small purchases through cash or credit card. No cash advances are possible.
Smoking policy
The ship is completely non-smoking except for an outdoor area of a specified area on board. Smoking is not permitted indoors, including cabins.
Solo travelers
We average a few solo travelers on these trips who mix and mingle with everyone. For a trip this small, there are no solo coordinators. You can start to meet other solos and travelers online in the Olivia's Amazing Galápagos Adventure 2019 Official Facebook Group Page.

After Your Trip

Disembarkation
We disembark after breakfast for our transfers to Los Cabos airport.
Vacation stretchers
We do not offer extenders for this trip. However, information on how to book the host hotel or a more upscale property can be found approximately 11 months prior to the trip on the Vacation Stretcher page.
