Lisa Koch

Daft. Demented. #SNORT. Picture Tina Fey meets Bette Midler with Joan Jett guitar chops...and you’ve got Seattle’s Lisa Koch. An irreverent singer/comedian, out lesbian and sober chick, Koch (“Coke”) is a deliciously twisted mix of comedy, theater, and tunes. She has recorded five solo CDs, is one-half of quirky sketch comedy duo, Dos Fallopia (“Ham for the Holidays”), and has shared the stage with the likes of Janis Ian, Kate Clinton, Lily Tomlin, Karla Bonoff, The Indigo Girls, and Steve Martin. She composed the Off-Broadway musical 27, Rue de Fleurus, has been seen on LOGO and Olivia Cruises, and actually had one of her songs sampled by Jay-Z. Lisa brings to Olivia her guitar, her wacky songs, and her musings on being a woman…from middle age to mammograms to singing vulvas.

Mouths of Babes

“If I was forced to categorize it, I’d call it modern folk. It’s powerful, romantic, and giddy. And the two are insanely infectious together onstage, like a musical and a personal love fest all at once.” — Huffington Post

With more than a dozen albums and over a thousand shows between them, Ty Greenstein and Ingrid Elizabeth of Mouths of Babes are no strangers to the modern folk music scene. For years, their respective bands Girlyman and Coyote Grace captivated thousands of loyal fans as they criss-crossed the country, rocked festival main stages, and supported the Indigo Girls and Dar Williams on the regular. Now, as Mouths of Babes, Ty and Ingrid have distilled the very best of the songwriting, humor, and musicianship of their previous groups into a new power duo that brings more style and depth than ever before. Their sound is equal parts celebration and blues, folk and soul, tear-jerker ballad and irreverent ditty.

The key to the Mouths of Babes magic is in the contrast. Rarely is a sound or a show as balanced as it is with these two, and the differences in both their songwriting styles and personal presentation makes for an unusually satisfying yin and yang. They easily switch off lead vocals and play a wide array of instruments, with Ty holding down lead and rhythm guitars and Ingrid playing upright bass, ukulele, and percussion. Fans have quickly fallen in love with Mouths of Babes’ realness and humor as much as with their music. At live shows, audience members snort with laughter, cry into their date’s shoulder, and make confessions at the merch table.

Not surprisingly, both entertainers come from notable musical families, and their influences (namely, 60’s folk music and Motown) are deeply embedded in Mouths of Babes’ sound. Ty’s father, Ron Greenstein, is a member of the legendary folk harmony trio The Chad Mitchell Trio (where John Denver got his start), while Ingrid’s uncle Tom Eyen wrote the world-famous, Tony-winning musical Dreamgirls. As notes, the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree: “The songs Mouths of Babes writes and performs together fuse blues, folk, and soul, and the depth of emotion found in their lyrics is reminiscent of all that’s moving about the Dreamgirls soundtrack.”

Their highly anticipated first full-length album, Brighter in the Dark, showcases their eclectic Americana sound as well as award-winning songwriting. The title track, “Brighter in the Dark” was selected as a finalist in the 2017 John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the Folk category. The self-produced album features original songs with contrasting themes of light and dark, tragedy and comedy, personal and political.

"Mouths of Babes could never have predicted how necessary [Brighter In The Dark] is in a post-Trump world. The album title is fitting. We need music that shows people struggling against social expectations, that reminds us that we all have the resilience we need to make it through." —No Depression

"Hands down the best new music I've heard in years. It's damn near perfect. The instrumental performances, the arrangements, the production, and OMG the songwriting and singing. The opening tune 'Thing with Feathers' gave me goosebumps. Twice. This is the kind of music that makes you glad to be alive." —Michael Mullane, Cafe Veritas

"This pair of road warriors sounds refreshingly new and breathes new life into a seemingly overcrowded genre. Those who enjoy acoustic music rich in passion and fervor would be wise to check [them] out." —Submerge Mag
